Everyone knows the John Deere brand of tractors, lawn equipment and construction equipment. But very few might be as familiar with the company’s move into the electric vehicle-powered space, including a pledge to reduce CO2 emissions on 90% of its products.
The Power Challenge
John Deere had precise requirements for its programmable power equipment. The company required technical expertise, cost-effective design, complete in-house manufacturing, pre-purchase quality testing and ISO 9000 certification.
Due to the PSB’s bidirectional regenerative features, John Deere engineers selected a combination of PSB/ELR 10000 programmable power supplies and loads to save on energy usage.
Product Description
Both EA PSB bidirectional DC power supplies and EA ELR regenerative DC electronic loads series:
- Feature input power ratings up to 15kW in 3U or 30kW in 4U form factor with maximum 2000 VDC. PSBs can be easily paralleled in racks to achieve 1.92MW of power.
- Include true autoranging to cover a wider operating range of voltage and current while still maintaining full output.
- Come standard with an arbitrary waveform function generator, swappable digital interface module and built-in test routines for battery test, fuel cell simulation, photovoltaic simulation with MPP tracking, and more
- Sink (absorb) current and recover up to 96% of current, reducing heat, noise and HVAC costs, making them cost-effective and environmentally friendly.
