EV Battery Solutions needed the right bidirectional programmable power supplies to handle multiple aspects of EV battery recycling, including testing and discharging. Accuracy in discharging was essential due to the possible volatile nature of EV batteries during transportation and recycling. Testing would also need to be precise for applications involving second-life and repurposing.
One of the features the Cox team tested was the EA-PSB 10000 unit’s regenerative feature, which returns power to the grid with 96% efficiency. Also, the EA-PSB 10000 has “true” autoranging, allowing testing over more ranges with just one piece of equipment.
The Power Challenge
To meet EV battery range goals, higher energy storage capacities are being developed. The PSB series bidirectional DC programmable power supply with integrated, regenerative electronic load series can sink (absorb) current and recover up to 96% of current, returning it to the local power grid. EA’s high-power density bidirectional power supplies:
